Why I’m Running Help us win on November 6th, 2012

I moved to Idaho in 1993 to attend Idaho State University.  Within a matter of months, I knew that Idaho was my home.  I experienced a lifestyle that trumps any other place I have ever lived.  I found communities that worked hard to earn a living, welcomed me into their lives, and who introduced me to all of the recreational opportunities Idaho offers.  Upon graduating from college, I, like so many other Idaho graduates, moved into the workforce and had to temporarily leave this state to pursue a career.

In 2006, after gaining experience, working hard and living in several different states I returned to Idaho permanently.  Many of my most memorable life experiences occurred in Idaho.  I purchased my first house in Boise;  I finished my master’s degree in Boise; and I have expanded my business in Boise.  Returning to Idaho is the best decision I have ever made.  Simply put, I love it here.

Now, I want to ensure that everything I love about Idaho will be protected or improved for generations to come.  I want our families, friends, and children to be proud to live in Idaho.  I will ensure that everyone has equal access to a high-quality education, and that our friends and families stay in this beautiful valley because there are enough diverse employment opportunities for everyone.

Let’s improve our economy – As a policy aid to Representative Brian Cronin and the Idaho Democratic Legislative Caucus, I worked with our legislators to create the Idaho Jobs and Opportunity Blueprint in 2012.  I believe that it is essential to ensure our local businesses stay and grow, to provide opportunities for new businesses to start and succeed, and to implore outside businesses to relocate to Idaho.  Additionally, ensuring that the small towns and rural communities across Idaho have the resources needed to be successful is essential to the future.

Let’s improve our education system – Our education system is the key to our economic future, and our government has treated it very poorly for several years.  Let’s return to what made our country great by investing in our teachers, facilities, and the technology needed to ensure a comprehensive educational experience for everyone.  Creativity and civics in the classroom should be encouraged, and we need to provide adequate opportunities for our children to participate in physical education, art, and music programs.

Let’s change the ethical standards of our elected officials – The current super-majority has lost touch with the people of our state.  Single-party rule in Idaho has spun out of control to the point that some legislators bring bills to the floor without full disclosure, conflicts of interest, and no one in mind but themselves.  I am frustrated by the lack of effort by the Idaho GOP to create an independent ethics commission and hold their leaders accountable.  I believe balanced government produces the best policy, and is more likely to address the diverse needs of the Idaho people.

Please support my campaign for D19 House of Representatives Seat A. I look forward to meeting you and hearing your concerns throughout the course of this election.
